LONGS, S.C. (Dec. 18, 2010) – Habitat for Humanity of Horry
County, Lowe’s volunteers and members
of the Longs Community gathered at 1208 Pint Circle today to
dedicate a newly finished Habitat home.
The house was built as part of Habitat for Humanity's effort to
eliminate poverty housing and provide
simple, decent affordable housing built in partnership with
homeowners, volunteers and sponsors.
Lowe’s, a national partner with Habitat for Humanity since 2003,
provided Habitat for Humanity of
Horry County with a $32,500 grant to build this home in
partnership with the Bellamy family.
“We were so pleased to have community volunteers and sponsors
working side-by-side with our partner
family,” said Gail Olive, executive director of Habitat for
Humanity of Horry County. “This is one
example of our affiliate’s commitment to revitalizing
communities using homeownership as an anchor for
hope and change.”
The home on Pint Circle will add to the more than 100 Habitat
houses built in Horry County. Other
supporters of the home include Coastal Carolina Association of
Realtors, Gordon Biersch, South Carolina
Association of Realtors, Wells Fargo and Yoga in Common.
“We are in the business of helping people build and maintain
their homes,” said Greg Pons, store
manager, Lowe’s of Myrtle Beach. “And through our partnership
with Habitat and our employee
volunteers, we are pleased to help support Habitat’s mission of
making home ownership a reality for
partner families.”
