Habitat Hold
'em Tournament Format & Rules:
This will be a 9-player, single-table format, also known
as "Sit & Go's". Players may play as many games as they wish
until the event is over. The first tables will start at
noon, and the last round of tables will start at 8pm. Must be 18 or older to play. No Gambling involved.
Each game is played until one of the players wins all of
the chips at their table or the two hour time limit expires
(at which point the player with the highest chip count wins
that table). The final hand before the time limit expires
shall start at the 1 hour 55 minute mark.
The players' top five scores are added up at the end of
the event and the player with the highest combined score
wins. In the event of a tie, the player with the most first
place finishes ranks ahead, then second place finishes, then
by total overall points.
The first, second and third place finishers (based upon
point total for the entire event) win awards or prizes
provided by Habitat. Prizes will be awarded shortly after
10pm, you need not be present to win.
Games will begin every 15 minutes (:00, :15, :30, :45)
as long as there are 9 players ready to start a new table.
Players may join a new table as soon as they wish after
leaving a previous table. To avoid players having to wait
greater than 30 minutes to start a new table, a new "short"
table may start with a minimum of 6 players, and the final
three players may join within the first 15 minute blind.
Starting a "short" table will be approved at the sole
discretion of the tournament staff.
The blinds are doubled every 15 minutes for all games.
The blinds must be doubled on the hand immediately following
the announcement.
Players "buy in" to a table for $10 per table and are
not transferable, there may not be any substitute players or
stand-ins at any time. The "buy in" amount is a donation to
Habitat to assist in their efforts to build houses for
people in need.
Chips: the $10 "buy in" provides each player with
3000 in chips. Chips and cards are not allowed to leave the
tables at any time, unless directed by event staff.
For beginners or novice players looking to learn the
game or improve their skills, there will be "training"
tables led by experienced players for practice, questions
and strategy discussions. These tables have a $5 "buy in"
but do not score points in the event scoring.
Training tables will be available starting at 11am and will
be free of charge until the event starts at Noon.
Papa Joe's Cafe & Bar will provide a small menu of
appetizers and finger-food style entrees that may be ordered
throughout the event. The Bistro offers a full cash bar,
soft drinks, coffee, tea, etc and players are encouraged to
order and enjoy themselves. Exact menu and pricing has not
yet been determined, but 10% of all food and beverage sales
will be donated to Habitat. However, should anyone become
inebriated, combative or disruptive, Habitat and Event Staff
reserve the right to stop serving or remove said person from
the event and the premises. We want you to have a good time,
but please behave respectfully and responsibly.
