Faith Relations "We must put faith and love into action to make them real, to make them come alive for people...true faith must be acted out." - Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity |

Putting
Faith Into Action |
|||
| Habitat for Humanity was established as a way to demonstrate Christian beliefs. The faith relations program seeks to build close, mutually beneficial partnerships with the churches of Horry County. We hope to find enthusiastic and supportive individuals to be a voice from within their respective congregations. Your church can live out their faith and partner with Habitat to work together to help eliminate poverty housing in our community. Partnering with Habitat will not only change the life of a local family, but it will also change yours - we guarantee it! | ![]() |

What
is an Apostles Build? |
|||
In an Apostles Build project, 12 churches - or coalition of churches - come together to build a Habitat for Humanity home. They raise the money and provide the labor and prayer support to build a house in partnership with a local family. With Habitat for Humanity, churches can share God's love by building houses. The word 'disciple' comes from the Latin word for pupil or learner. Jesus chose 12 disciples as his closest associates. They traveled with Jesus and learned from him. |

Benefits for Churches The benefits of working with Habitat for Humanity are numerous - especially for your faith community. Building a house is a concrete way to put faith into action. An Apostles Build project calls people to leave the halls of the church and to serve in the way that the original apostles served. Working on this project allows people of faith to be the Body of Christ in the world. Another positive feature of an Apostles Build project is that it has a definite beginning and a definite end. Busy individuals can schedule time that they can give this project and churches can work the project into their calendars. |
Many churches have reported that when they became Habitat partners, they experienced a revitalization throughout the congregation. Some noted that membership grew and that giving increased because people wanted to be a part of a vibrant church that was reaching beyond itself. Churches have also reported that members get excited about other mission opportunities after working on a Habitat project. An Apostles Build project also has the potential to build community among churches that have never worked together before. After being a part of this joint project, you may decided to worship together or to cooperate in other ministries. You may learn about opportunities at various churches that may benefit another's members. Volunteers have the opportunity to meet new people and develop friendships with individuals from their own churches. |
