Building Homes in Partnership with God's People in Need

Congratulations Al Franklin
Step Up's Faith in Action Volunteer of the Year

On May 1st, 2008 Habitat for Humanity of Horry County's very own Al Franklin was the proud recipient of Step Up's Faith in Action award.  This award recognizes volunteers who rely on their faith as a catalyst for service to the greater community.  Nominees may serve members of their own faith community and/or other organizations.

Al's contributions over the years are immeasurable.  Al has volunteered over 2,000 hours for our organization since 1999 and has played an integral role on the construction of over 50 homes during that span.

Not only has our affiliate been the beneficiary of Al and his experience, but Al has professed and taught over 1,000 individual volunteers over the years.  Those volunteers under Al's tutelage and guidance have proven to be tremendous assets themselves, accumulating more than 22,000 hours volunteered under Al's guidance.

Al Franklin has brightened both the future of dozens of families in need of decent, affordable housing and our very own Habitat for Humanity affiliate alike.

We thank you Al for everything you have done over the years...things only a volunteer's passion could do.

And to all of those volunteers that were nominated and received awards, please know that you are all winners in the hearts of those that you touch with your efforts each and every day.  Without all of you in the various organizations you support, what we do here as non-profits with a cause would not be possible.  You, the volunteers of Horry County, are truly what made all this possible.  Habitat for Humanity of Horry County applauds you all for your determination and support.  Please do continue to volunteer and continue to change the lives of all those that you come across.
